Pentahotels has signed another hotel in China.

The contemporary midscale hotel brand, which forms part of the Rosewood Hotel Group, has been has been chosen to manage the new Pentahotel Luohe in Henan province. Set to open in 2016, the 224-room hotel will be located on the top floors of a 37-storey tower, which will also include offices, residences and a shopping mall.

The 180-metre-high structure will be the tallest building in Luohe – a city of approximately 2.5 million people in the centre of Henan.

“Given that Pentahotel Luohe will be in such a visible and high-profile landmark, it is destined to become a popular local gathering place, in keeping with our brand identity as a neighbourhood lifestyle hotel,”  Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group.

The Luohe property will join existing Pentahotels in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, as well as new properties in Guiyang and Shenyang that are scheduled to open in 2014. It also forms part of the brand’s goal of having 80 Pentahotels either operational or under development across the world by 2020.

Rosewood calls Pentahotels a “design-led, neighbourhood lifestyle brand”, with facilities usually including mixed-use lobbies with bars and cafés, and a focus on in-room connectivity.
