Panasonic has launched a new solution that will allow airlines to boost their in-flight advertising revenues.
AdConnect is the latest addition to Panasonic’s portfolio of advertising solutions, which uses airlines’ in-flight Wi-Fi networks to target passengers.
In partnership with MediaShift, Panasonic will enable airlines to place advertisements within a passenger’s in-flight Wi-Fi session, even after a passenger leaves the airline portal and begins to surf the internet.
The company said this could be achieved “without any degradation to the content on the website or to the user experience”.
“We are committed to helping our airlines partners extract maximum value from investments they’ve made in our in-flight entertainment and communications solutions,” said Paul Margis, president & CEO of Panasonic Avionics. “With the launch of our AdConnect service, we are able to provide a more personalised experience to passengers, and generate more revenue for our customers.”
The AdConnect system is compatible with laptops, tablets and smartphone, and is designed to allow airlines to increase ancillary revenues through advertising.
The technology will be available immediately for North America, with a global roll-out planned in future.
