Alitalia and Lufthansa were among the European airlines that received awards for their amenity bags earlier this week.
Alitalia took the prize for best amenity bag female and male in the Europe/Africa category at the TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards in Hamburg on Tuesday.
Lufthansa took the prize for the bag for children aged over six, while the award for a bag for children younger than six went to Emirates.
Emirates also took the awards for the male and female categories for Middle East carriers, while Gulf Air scooped the unisex bag prize.
Etihad Airways won two awards as the most ethnically sustainable amenity bag and the best in-flight amenity/gift for its ‘Inspired by Sougha’ bags.
“Sougha means ‘a traveller’s gift’ in Arabic and we introduced our new amenity kits to provide something uniquely Arabian to our guests, and more importantly, as a way of supporting and celebrating local Emirati craftsmanship on a global stage,” said Etihad’s chief commercial officer Peter Baumgartner. “To also receive an award for our Diamond First Class COCO-MAT bedding so soon after we introduced it onboard [in February] is a testament to the high standards of this unique all-natural product.”
Other winners on the night included American Airlines, Aeroflot and Garuda Indonesia for the unisex categories in their region, while TAP received an award for best collaborative initiative.
Turkish Airlines also took two prizes, for its premium economy amenity bag and the most innovative bag.
The first class category prizes went to Singapore Airlines, Oman Air and Garuda Indonesia Airlines for female, male and unisex respectively.
