Attending the Chinese Outbound Travel and Tourism Marketing (COTTM) in Beijing last week, SCTDA chairman, HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, met with officials from various Chinese tourism bodies. The objective was to strengthen bilateral tourism relations and exchange and explore new avenues of cooperation and growth.

Al Noman met with officials from the China Tourism Academy, the Beijing Tourism Industry Association, and the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development.

Mr Cao Pengcheng, vice chairman of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development and Al Noman agreed on several tactical initiatives. These include sharing market knowledge and expertise; hosting promotional campaigns and creating opportunities for both destinations as part of a ‘Sharjah week’ in Beijing and ‘a Beijing week’ in Sharjah; as well as a cross-internship to strengthen the partnership, develop skills and deepen mutual understanding.

The Emirate received more than 269,950 Asian tourists in 2013, representing 14% from the total 1.9 million visitors arrivals.
