Tigerair has started allowing passengers to bypass the check-in counters at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
The new ‘direct-to-gate’ service allows passengers without checked-in baggage or visa requirements to check-in online and proceed straight to immigration.
The low-cost carrier has also installed four self-check-in kiosks at Changi’s Terminal 2, where Tigerair’s usual check-in counters are located. Passengers can check-in online or using the kiosks, rather than using the standard check-in desks.
“The direct-to-gate service is intended to provide greater convenience for eligible passengers, minimising the amount of time they have to spend queuing up at the airport before their flight,” said Ho Yuen Sang, managing director & chief operating officer of Tigerair.
“We anticipate that around 30% of our passengers, who are eligible for web check-in, would benefit from this service that would make their travel experience more seamless and enjoyable.”
All eligible passengers travelling from Singapore can us the new service, which has also been introduced by Jetstar.
