A drunken passenger has been arrested following a hijacking scare onboard a Virgin Australia flight to Bali.

The aircraft was en route from Brisbane to Bali when the man tried to enter the plane’s cockpit, causing the pilot to tell authorities his aircraft had been ‘hijacked’.

The drunken man, named as 28-year-old Christopher Lockey, was reportedly hand-cuffed by cabin crew and arrested by Indonesian police on arrival at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport. All passengers were evacuated from the aircraft and no-one was harmed in the incident.

According to Sky News, Indonesian television station Metro TV first reported the hijacking after hearing of the pilot’s scare on the flight from Brisbane, which Indonesian air force spokesman Hadi Tjahjanto later said was a ‘misunderstanding’.
