A holidaymaker has launched a claim against Thomas Cook after claiming he caught cholera while travelling with the firm.

Tim Warner claims to have caught the infection while on a trip to the Sol Azur Hotel in Tunisia with his partner Amanda Dworak.

Warner initially thought he had food poisoning but was diagnosed with cholera when he returned home.

According to the Daily Mail he claimed the hotel smelt of ‘raw sewage’ and that is closed part-way through the holiday.

He contacted Thomas Cook but was unhappy with the response so has taken action through solicitors Slater & Gordon.

A spokeswoman for Thomas Cook said: “The health and safety of our customers is always our primary concern, so we were naturally very concerned to hear that Mr Warner became unwell while he was on holiday with us. As we are in the process of liaising directly with Mr Warner’s legal representative in relation to this, we are unable to provide any further comment at this time so as not to unduly influence any possible future legal proceedings.”
