Thailand’s English language newspaper, The Nation, cited an airline official as saying that THAI Smile will add new routes to the Hyderabad and Colombo this quarter, along with Myanmar’s largest city, Yangon.
“We are going to fly abroad more this year. India and Myanmar will be key places. THAI Smile is talking with THAI about transferring its routes in India and Myanmar,” Chalongchai Hiranyalekha, chief commercial adviser to THAI Smile, was quoted saying.
This would mark the first move into South Asia for THAI Smile, which commenced operations in 2012. Currently, it mostly operates domestic routes, plus an international service from Bangkok to Macau, using its fleet of 174-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
