AirAsia has strengthened its presence in the Maldives with the launch of a new travel shop.

The new AirAsia Travel & Service Centre (ATSC) officially opened in the Maldivian capital, Male, on Sunday 22 May. It will be operated by All H Maldives and will provide services including AirAsia flight bookings, hotel reservations and tour activities.

“We are pleased to further strengthen our presence here in the Maldives with the launch of AirAsia Travel & Service Centre. With its central location in Male, it is an added convenience for guests who are not able to book their AirAsia flights online,” said Aireen Omar, CEO of AirAsia. “Our direct route connecting Kuala Lumpur and Male has also shown a strong track record since we started operations last October, with an average load factor of 85% on both ways.”

Moosa Zameer, the Maldivian Minister of Tourism, applauded AirAsia for opening the new facility, and said it would “increase the visibility of the AirAsia services throughout Maldives”.

“Partnerships like these are example of opportunities available to the private sector that would drive the engine of Maldives aviation sector,” he added.

AirAsia’s first ATSC opened Malaysia in March 2011, as a means of providing services to customers who are not able to book their flights online. Since then, the office network has expanded to the Philippines, Thailand, China, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and now the Maldives, which becomes the 94th such facility across Asia. All ATSC outlets are operated by third-party agents on behalf of AirAsia.

AirAsia launched its first ever flights to the Maldives in October 2015, offering direct services to and from Kuala Lumpur.
