It’s difficult to choose from all the sales taking place this week, but here are just a few to whet your appetite.

Superbreak has unveiled its biggest January sale with a wide range of deals across the UK and Europe. Free nights are available in Europe with Eurostar and flight-inclusive packages; as well as 50% discounts on Sunday night stays and complimentary sightseeing tickets such as London Thames or Paris Seine river cruise. A typical Paris trip starts from £148 per person for three nights.

Caribtours has launched its biggest sale with discounts on more than 70 holidays. One of its best includes seven nights at The Inn at English Harbour, Antigua from £1, 625 per person on a half-board bases in a Junior Suite, saving up to £2, 285 per couple. Offers available across the Caribbean, Mexico, Indian Ocean and Arabia.

Virgin Atlantic has launched a sale on a wide range of destinations around the world. Prices are available until 28 January, valid for travel on various dates in 2014. New York return flights in economy start from £429 in the sale, while those to Orlando start at £462. Flights to Barbados start from £523 return; Cancun from £557 and Sydney from £836. All fares per person and include taxes, charges and surcharges.

Avis is offering 20% off car hire across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and North America. Its New Year sale is available across different vehicles for bookings up to 31 January. Clients could perhaps nip around Rome in a Fiat 500; cruise alone Route 66 in a convertible or hire an estate to carry ski gear.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is offering flights from £70 in its January sale. Bookings are only available until 14 January 2014 for travel between 28 January and 31 October 2014. Flights from Heathrow to Stockholm and Copenhagen start from £70 one-way in the sale, with Manchester and Birmingham flights from £65 and £78 respectively. Heathrow to Oslo services start form £79 one-way.
